The Ship

Built in 1890 for the Portland Steam Packet Company for its overnight service from Portland to New York.  A handsome, well-found ship, she served on this run for eight years.  On November 26, 1898, she departed from Portland in a severe storm and disappeared off Cape Cod.  She was lost with all hands and between 160 and 190 passengers
