David Thimgan (American)  (1955 – 2003)

He is an oil painter of  historical marine subjects, who specializes in scenes from America’s  seafaring past, with an emphasis on the west coast and Pacific Ocean, trade  on the western rivers, and the naval aspects of the American Civil War, as  well as the “Old Steam Navy.” He has been painting professionally  since 1978, and since then his reputation as one of America’s leading  historical marine artists has grown rapidly. He has been an Artist Member of  the American Society of Marine Artists since 1981, and was selected as a Fellow  in 1996. Today, his work appears in important private collections around the  world, and major corporate collections including Goodyear and Security  Pacific National Bank. Some of his major exhibits include the Mystic  International Exhibition, the Mystic Invitational, and the American Society  of Marine Artists National Exhibition. A special collection of his work was  featured in Four Distinguished Artists at the Gallery in November 1993, and  again in 1997. David has been honored at the Mystic International Exhibition  with the Rudolph Schaefer award in 1996 and again in 1997.
